Glaze is a thin coating of glass that we put on our clay to make it durable, functional and aesthetically pleasing.

Glaze is primarily composed of a blend of naturally occurring materials that are heated in a kiln and transformed into glass.

The 4 basic components of a glaze are silica (quartz/flint), alumina (clay), alkali metal (R2O/feldspar) and alkaline earth (RO/carbonate)
